Day 39 - Cannon Beach, Astoria, South Bend, Port Townsend, Deception Pass

The never ending quest for coffee stops one more time at Sleepy Monk in Cannon Beach. The Sleepy Monks have many quaint customs, like closing the washrooms when they are roasting coffee. Really.

We battled fog in Bodega Bay, but these are the first raindrops of this entire trip.

Things get even worse as we cross the causeway into Astoria.

Crossing the Columbia for one last time.

Lewis and Clark worked long and hard to come up with the name "Dismal Nitch" for this place. They also worked long and hard at that spelling.

Once again South Bend decks out in support of breast cancer awareness.

A few signs of fall colour in the Pacific Northwest.

OK everyone, back on the boat.

George Vancouver named this spot "Deception Pass" after an early entrepreneur sold him this bridge.

We spool up the FTL for one last jump home.

Wheee!

Crossing the Alex Fraser bridge we know we're home to settle in for another delightful Vancouver winter. Thank goodness we have our new crop of enthusiastic students to look forward to and brighten our days.

Last turn into our hood - can almost imagine we've just arrived at Detroit Lake, not an urban centre!
