Good to know the red rocks fire brigade keeps in pratice - they need that cherry picker unit to rescue all the tourists that climb a little too enthusiastically and then can't get back down.
We brave a true high clearance vehicle road to get to a trail called Devil's Bridge. A devil to get to - but we're certainly not the only ones trying.
At the end of a terrifying 4-wheel drive road, the Forest Service provides a beautifully manicured parking lot. No Priuses in this one, though.
Are we out in these red rocks again? Truth be known our almost 11 year old shetland sheep dog did amazingly well climbing a very steep and rocky pitch to get up to the landmark bridge at trail's end. She likes red rock much better than volcanoes and scrub land with burrs. The red rocks are too big to get stuck between her toes!
You never need to manicure a wild cactus garden - it does just fine all by itself.
Big climb - astonishing views.
At the top of the climb to Devils's Bridge, there is a view to savour.

We may need to prepare to separate the saucer section.
Truck just smiles and handles the big rocks with no worry. Truck is happy - it doesn't get to play like this too often.
wooooooo hooooooooo
Yes, the pavement awaits.
Last rays are amazingly powerful tonight.
Hard to believe that all those back country roads and trails are only a half hour away from the mundane malls of Sedona. It is cool that no matter where you are here - you feel enveloped by the majestic red cliffs.
