The rain drives down the windows as I tuck into my breakfast crepes. The storm is fast moving and fun to watch.
We venture out into the lightning to scout a few trailheads for the future. The squalls come thick and fast. That blue sky is a mirage.
At the Thunder Mountain trailhead we find yet another high-voltage Vortex Generator. These things are all over the place.
The Thunder Mountain trailhead, ignoring the Vortex Generator. Makes my brain itch, though.
We think this is some kind of Vortex Transformer, used to convert Vortex Energy from its high-voltage transmission state into a safer, more useable form for newbies. The hardcore prefers the uncut stuff.
We find Sedona's low rent district. Right next to McMansionville.
The Little Elf trailhead.
The World Famous KFC Rock. Discovered by Colonel Sanders in 1873, this rock inspired a world-wide fried chicken empire. In his creative excitement, Colonel Sanders overlooked discovering the Equally Famous Taco Bell Rock, just to the right.
Our tradition of afternoon coffee - AKA "snacks". Sedona has an absolute dearth of quality bakeries - and accompanying online reviews about local shops that claim to have "fresh baked goods" - but they've brought them in "fresh" from the likes of Costco and charge 3X the price. These are the best home made with love that we've found to date. The cookies come from the Hike House - really - they DO bake bunches of fresh cookies daily - and the fudge is from the Crown King General Store that we discovered yesterday. It's one and a half hours up a dirt road to get it - but sooo worth it. There is definitely room in Sedona for a REAL bakery - but meantime we will look forward to returning to Trafiq and Sweet E's in our hometown.
They've found us again.
