Roadtrip 2015 Spring: Vancouver - Astoria - Newport - Oceanside - Cannon Beach - Vancouver

Day 3 - Newport

Morning coffee on our Harbour Master deck. It's pretty cool watching all of the sailors scurry about when we raise the "Hurricane Warning" flag.

Newport's little lock box - and the lock master..

J.L. Seagull demonstrating whatever the heck that book was about.

Wendy completes what Emma started while Emma wonders what the holdup is about.

And then... the main event.

Did we mention there ain't nuthin' like a day at the beach?

The post beach relax.

The "We Are Small" people try out colour - for a change.

The Harbour Master's perch at sunset. More coffee. And then we'll try out the "Tsunami Warning" flag.

The big, shiny white ship belongs to the NOAA. They take it out occasionally, in the middle of the night to "measure wave heights". Uh-huh. All them measurements must really weigh a lot, because that ship is always much lower in the water when she returns compared to when she departed. We also note the local sealions disappear from the pier when she returns.
