Roadtrip 2016 Fall: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - John Day River - Port Orford - Florence - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 7 - John Day Fossil - Sheep Rock Unit

Waldron School 1847.

The Last Chance Diner. Seriously. Last Chance.

Emma turns up her nose at today's mystery poo.

Satisfied with the discovery of the mystery poo, Russ and Emma follow the trail back to the truck where Emma will receive a celebratory snack.

Emma provides overwatch as Wendy does that thing she does with that boring black box.

The John Day River is flat and clear along this stretch near Spray.

Landscape from the Story in Stone Trail at Foree.

Devil's Tower. Strange things happen in the rain around Devil's Tower. What is that thrumming noise?

Wendy and Emma stroll past Devil's Tower pretending not to notice strange things happening.

Of critters past.

The top-secret government facility known as "Cant Ranch". It looks like a ranch, but there are obvious signs that this is no ordinary ranch. Devil's Tower is far too close to be a coincidence.

Rushes by the river - caught in a perpetual time flux.

Even the ravens are noticeably nervous around the barn.

Signs of government meddling abound. This top-secret vehicle was clearly developed for operation by human-alien hybrids with eyes in the backs of their heads and special steering tentacles. The working theory of space-time was: it is far better to know where you've been than to see where you're going.

Ravens always know exactly what they're doing - their rythmic and repetitive roof tapping is a summons for the impending clouds of doom.

Looking at the gauge on the panel to the left, it appears that 4,000 gigawatts is being produced in that shack, presumably the main power source for Devils' Tower. It is eerily silent, except for some gurgling noises and an occasional giggle.

The shack is very stealthy - from this angle you'd never suspect a thing.
