Day 4 - Bend to Carson City
The US Air Force has been working on this space crosshair since Ronald Reagan announced Star Wars in the '80s. It has only just reached the testing stage, able to lock onto evil empire surveillance satellites. The particle beam is next.
Suddenly an enormous set of film sprockets appears by the roadside.
Direct and straight - all the way to Chicago.
To Alturas, or not to Alturas, that is the question.
Ellie is just working out the fine mechanics of the roadside scrape pit stop.
And just like that, Wendy reappears from the funny little roadside hut. It is not clear what goes on in there.
A small reminder that indeed, Halloween is within reach.
It has been a long drive, light is falling - we are closing in on Reno.
Reno actual. Casinos and sunsets - what more can one want?
The final push to Carson City. The bug splatted window will require some attention tomorrow.
