Roadtrip 2018 Spring: Vancouver - Cannon Beach - Waldport - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 1 - Vancouver to Cannon Beach

As always, a roadtrip has to start with a visit to Tony's.

Spring is so late and cold this year that we have to paint the flowers.

Thursday, 1:30pm, I-5 just ripping right along. Glad we missed rush hour.

Not sure anything is entirely clear on this issue. But apparently it's both recreational and medicinal.

Another dreary transit through the Pacific Northwest.

Can't stop the rain.

But we do have Tim's!! Small miracles make us smile.

GPS confirms we have reached Dismal Nitch. It always looks like this. The National Park Service keeps it exactly the way Lewis and Clark left it. They've even preserved its innate blurriness. I'm not sure how.

Crossing the Columbia for the zillionth time.

This happens to us every now and then - the Matrix glitches, and we see stuff like this: the road just suddenly disappears into a fog bank, in this case, in the middle of a bridge. They must have something weird cooked up for us, but weren't able to get it into position fast enough, so they resorted to the good ol' fog glitch.

Then, the fog suddenly clears. Astoria appears. It doesn't look quite right. I'm not sure what.

Yeah. Astoria. They've cooked something up in the Matrix.
