Day 5 - Bend to Rockaway Beach

We are extremely fortunate today, and catch the rare migration march of the snow ghosts.

One of the most closely-guarded secrets of the US Department of Agriculture, kept in a field in the way, way backwoods of Oregon, where the rain falls thick and the sun shines hot:  the genetically-enhanced Robertson Pickup Truck Tree.  It blooms a single bloom in late spring, and bears a single fruit in late October.  The fruit must be carefully over-wintered, and picked just before the next season's bloom.  This is the much-desired King-Kab variety.

The sun continues to break through an otherwise menacing sky, as we zoom through dairy country on route to final destination, Rockaway Beach.
