The collection of wildflowers becomes larger yet again.
The area is riddled with trails. Thankfully, the main trail is obvious.
No one knows how this little sea otter became fossilized in the desert.
And then they were orange. I think we've been in the GJ area long enough to see transitions from earlier to later blooms.
More subtly coloured grasslands with the northern wall of the Grand Valley in the distance.
The meadows are loaded with colour.
The World-Famous Skinner Cabin. Curiously, nobody really knows who built it, but it might have been John Skinner. Everybody who lived here had the first name John (really!), which makes things extra confusing. There is no good reason for the cabin being here - it's very remote and there is no ready water source. It was sold to John Condon under dubious circumstances - it's built on BLM land. He was the last inhabitant in the 1950's.
Fishers has been our "go to" store for incredible proteins - including wagu beef and a very credible fish counter. They also carry "Rocking W" local Colorado milk and a fabulous mix of greens from another local producer - Grofresh 365
The starship hovers over the Grand Mesa. It's preparing for takeoff to the rising moon.
Meantime across the valley - the setting sun sprays a cast of reddish orange over the Book Cliffs, Mt Garfield and the town of GJ.
