The coffee perch has its view slightly obscured today due to forest fire smoke.
Out on the trail, the smoke is very obvious.
Weirdly, the dominant large predator in this part of the woods, Pinkitus Jeepitus has not been so easily seen so far. This is our first close sighting. This specimen, its tummy full of unusually unsuspecting tourists, is obviously headed back to its lair for digestion. And to regurgitate some of its meal for its young.
The Team launches into the Munds Mountain Wilderness, where almost nothing is allowed. Especially hang gliders. Seriously.
It's not - but it does resemble a bristlecone to some extent.
The peeling bark really is quite the visual feast.
I thought this was the World-Famous Snoopy Rock - but other tourists begged to differ. We never did find their version.
Pretty much a perfect specimen of prickly pear.
