We were told by a lovely local that these are the "Chinese Steps". Apparently well used by the Chinese Community 100+ years ago as they went about their daily routines. There were a number of ethnic communities in Jerome back then - but they were completely segregated from one another. The steps are wide and shallow here - to accomodate the women whose feet had been bound as babies - forever impacting their ability to normally walk. Russ - with his Chinese ancestry - remarked that at least he had chosen the perfect path for our descent back to town.
The requisite - yes there is always crazy stuff in Jerome shot.
