Day 20 - Nye Beach, South Beach, Newport

The whole sasquatch family is enjoying an outing today. Yes of course they are blurry. They always are.

It's a windy foogy day. The gulls are cruising the winds along the cliff line - and away from the most dense fog. These ones appear to just be having some fun as well.

It's foggy and windy today, so only the hardy and foolhardy are out there.

Underneath the South Pier of the Newport Harbour Bridge, we finally locate the source of that Giant Sucking Sound that could be heard all over town. When we first heard it, we thought it was the Winnepeg Jets.

The US Navy is trying out these submarine traps in Newport Harbour. An unsuspecting Chinese submarine swims into one end, and voila! It gets yanked out of the water and is shaken violently until it surrenders.

The traps are empty now - but await their prey. They're getting very hungry.

OH oh!!! These folks totally blew a tacking maneuver and capsized.

After a few minutes, the crew was able to get the boat completely upside-down. Both swam safely to shore - capsized sailboats are incredibly dangerous for crew. Good thing they made their mistake only meters from the dock, where there were many spectators ready to help.

Don't climb on the walrus. Just don't do it. The permanent retired pirate stationed here will pull out his trusty lazer sword - and you never want to be in the path of that weapon. He will first warn you with a wink of his evil eye. Wait - he always has a wink in his evil eye.

Always a diversity of interesting stuff in the windows at Pirate's Plunder.

Blues Brothers 2 - filming soon on the Newport waterfront. In addition to the brothers blue it will star the crews from the cancelled series Deadliest Catch Dungeon Cove - and Amber the fish monger at Local Ocean Seafoods.
