Day 36 - Elgin, Wallowa, Enterprise, Joseph and La Grande

Wendy spots the best and only meat shop in all of eastern Oregon. Now Open.

We met Billy Bob and Stafford. They are awesome folks. Billy Bob runs the smoker.

Everything is flooded in these parts - big spring runoff this year. We hope they can get their reservoirs filled.

Just what does go on in the "Secret Escape Room" at Shell's Gemeral?

Blue banana runs out to greet us as we round the corner.

The bugling elk laments the addition of elk burgers on the menu.

2 local artists created this very cool mural for these old doors. It'sa combination of relief and paint.

Downtown Joseph. Some great shops, coffee and restaurants here. Unfortunately we were here too late in the day to take real advantage.

Joseph is know for it's artisans and particularly works in bronze.

In La Grande we find excellent ice cream at The Local - a re purposed old Texaco staiton. The real locals have found it too. Sadly, can't rave about their coffee.

It's not clear if you get a free wife or wifes stay free.

In La Grande it'a an all out competition between the steakburgers and the KFC.

We I 85 it back to Haines - as the sun sinks below the local range.
