Roadtrip 2024 Fall: Walla Walla - Eagle - Park City - Apple Valley - Sedona - St. George - Barstow - Paso Robles - St. Helena - Brookings - Newport - Seaside

Day 12 - Apple Valley to Sedona

It is a road day - so we have everything packed - completed our check out check list - and indeed we even remembered to load up Ella. Coffee is in order - and we checked out our options for a quick to go stop in Colorado City - a nearby town. This one benched out the best. However - after 10 minutes in line and no movement at all - we bailed . Instead we found what I am going to deem - the best coffee of the trip so far - at another cafe called Sweet Sage. Definitely can't trust those online reviews.

The Renewed Topographics, Colorado City, 2025.

The cookies never make it out the door. Never. This is likely the high point of this year's trip, 7925 feet.

The first view of the Vermillion Cliffs.

Yup. Vermillion.

Crossing the Colorado at Marble Canyon. There are very few crossings available.

All bright and shiny - but one. Note the very angry looking face on the thoroughly damaged beyond repair vehicle hood.

Sign over sign with missing parts makes for an interesting abstract.

We rush right past this one.

There are a bunch of historic trading post sites along this stretch of highway. Once thriving - but not so much these days.

See - even trusted sources - now believe.

Between sips of water, as we wait for Russ to do his portion of grocery selection at Whole Foods Flagstaff - Ella eyes up the fairy tale pumpkins. She's wondering whay they are so special - and what their magical properties really are. Do dogs really think this stuff up?

Yes, let's all cheer to Fall - it is a spectacularly warm day today.

You can stay ultra modern or Route 66 rustic here in Flagstaff. Your choice to make.

Sedona Uptown arrival.

Followed by arrival at our digs for the next month. It's always a good sign to be welcomed by bird ornamentation - against the backdrop of those big red rocks.
