Roadtrip 2024 Fall: Walla Walla - Eagle - Park City - Apple Valley - Sedona - St. George - Barstow - Paso Robles - St. Helena - Brookings - Newport - Seaside

Day 15 - Twin Buttes Trail

Nice to have some great cloud forms in the Sedona landscape.

The Team at the easy-to-miss cairn *really* at the head of Twin Buttes.

Cloud shapes mix with more leaning trees.

Feelin' pretty happy in my red rocks. Now can we please get going?

Into the landscape!

Russ marches through the warm classic landscape.

Such a pefectly round specimen.

The crazy thread like filaments weave their way through the rigid leaf structure.

The usual total confusion at the World-Famous Khumbu Rockfall. Most expeditions end right here.

Face rocks.

Blue Agave.

Blue agave in situ.

The tangle of the jungle hides the far massif.

We are on the shade side of the canyon - nice for a hot day.

The ol' waterhole - which is surprisingly dry today.

Textured tree in textured environs.

The View at The Top.

Whenever we venture into this area near the Hogs - we encounter these incredible rainbows and sun spots. What is in the air here?

A boy and his dog.

The Black Helicopters have spent the day shooing tourists away from the other side of the canyon. We will investigate.

Mulder and Scully have certainly been here. But what has been discovered?

It's the usual race to beat dusk to the parking lot.

However, this view is only available at sunset.

We've walked this trail many times - but have never been over to check out this mini canyon. Russ noted it and Wendy went to have a peek. What a beautiful reward.

As I eyed up the possibilities to photograph the scene - I couldn't help but think of the beautiful female forms present in Georgia O'Keefes paintings. Even if she denied to her death that they had anything to do with her work!

Agave gone.

It's like this dead stem and flower structure are doing a dance to the local Gods.

They have no idea what lies ahead once they disappear beyond this red rock and around the corner.

The largest land predator in this region, the Pinkjeepterex, hunts at dusk. It's very colour proclaims its royal apexness.

Giant gashes mark the ground where a group of Pinkjeepterexes sharpened their talons.

another group of very live people also dance to the local canyon Gods.

Back at the ranch - Russ helps me find the instructions to put my new XE 2 camera into double exposure mode. On the XE1 it is right there in the main menu system - easy peasey. In version 2 it is buried in a sub menu. Sometimes digital is danged frustrating..

Woohoo - we got it - and it seems to work. Or does it ..... could be Russ in a vortex. Hmmmm.
