Roadtrip 2024 Fall: Walla Walla - Eagle - Park City - Apple Valley - Sedona - St. George - Barstow - Paso Robles - St. Helena - Brookings - Newport - Seaside

Day 28 - Fay Canyon

A little more from Ella as she merges Suessian and surrealism..

The Team plunges into the Red Rock Wilderness.

Grasses with crescent shaped tips catch a bit of light.

The US Navy has been working on these plant-based electronic surveillance sensors for years. They are capable of listening in on your cell phone calls and reading your text messages. If you see a grove of these, put your phone on the ground, mash it thoroughly underfoot, and then run away.

Original inspiration for Hula.

Fall is coming.

Fall in Fay.

The Keeper of the Canyon.

Sprays.

As avortex rumbles - a stand of sturdy trees shows no fear.

Another example of a wild wonga tree. They integrate very stealthily into any landscape. We have previously seen them on the Oregon Coast.

Sadly, the National Forest Service has allowed the Original Thor's Toilet to fall into decay. We hope they can scratch together some funding to at least build a museum around it.

This tree - suited out with reptilian like scales - is specifically designed to withstand any tremors of the nearby pesky vortex.

It is hard to imagine the power of the rushing water that left this huge limb and all it's branches resting comfortably over this section of canyon rocks . Luckily today - all is bone dry.

The Great Big Rock at the End of Fay.

Cool colours in the afternoon.

The Pillar of Hercules.

Time to play - this is red sand - and for me that means one thing - beach time!

Towards the end of the day - the grasses like to come out to play.
