It's our last lunch for this trip at Rene in beautiful Patio Azul. These are the very special house treats just for dogs. Ella can't wait to dig in. For some reason, they even brought her out 2 today. One will be saved for a later time.
We've known for a long time that the historic "Apple Orchard" at Slide Rock was a cover story for an early incarnation of Wildfire Lab. I think they called it "darpa", if that really is a name. Weirdly, the State Park Service has put some of "darpa"'s artifacts on display. These are early-model parabolic antennae used to detect ICBM's in the 1920's.
"darpa" also had a Stargate. It has sadly fallen into disrepair, but probably could be put back online with a power source and some WD-40.
At the Orchard. If it really ever really was an orchard.
If it was an orchard - it sure has some phenomenal qualities.
A calling horn, first used to communicate with extraterrestrials in the startling 1977 documentary "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". It is not known where Richard Dreyfuss is at.
The cliffs and the orchards.
More hocus pocus in the trees.
No one is sliding today just fully buttoned jackets and hats. All are "just lookin".
Nobody slidin' today.
Lots of baskin'. Still no slidin'.
Somehow, her phone is more interesting.
There are usually droves of confused tourists down in that spot. Vortexes.
Late day sun.
Also at "darpa": Enzo's secret project - The World's Fastest Tractor. Projected to break the sound barrier in 1925, it reached a classified top speed before being retired as "unsafe".
The Team at the "homestead". As if this really was a farm.
Farm or not - they made it all look real pretty.
Last rays.
The original farmhouse glows in the late afternoon sunshine.
More last rays.
