Roadtrip 2024 Fall: Walla Walla - Eagle - Park City - Apple Valley - Sedona - St. George - Barstow - Paso Robles - St. Helena - Brookings - Newport - Seaside

Day 44 - Sedona to St. George

We depart Sedona via the Midgley bridge. Bye bye Sedona - and especially all our friends who are one big family at Elote Cafe. Headed up by Papa/Chef Jeff of course. Hope to see you all again - next year. We will soon be counting the days.

Zip right in.

Abandoned stuff all over.

This is Gap. Why is there a Gap? Who knows?

Roadside jewelry markets line the sides of Arizona's Hwy 89 - the route to the Grand Canyon..

Navajo Bridge with the Vermillion Cliffs setting the stage.

The Twin Navajo Bridges. The left one is for pedestrians only.

The fines are horrendous.

The mighty Colorado flows far below.

Crazy knobby rocks project over the river.

The painted flanks of the Vermillion Cliffs.

In this spot, random cars coast to a rolling stop for no good reason. Their radios start to play 1950's music. Time stands still for the passengers. They come to their senses after a few hours, and they continue onwards as if nothing had happened.

The V-cliffs and the crazy winding road out of the Grand Canyon.

En route to Sedona we passed this station with great dismay. The upper building was jet black - with no livery whatsoever. Had they succombed to to pressure for a more dainty sign - or pehaps there were new owners? Nope all is back to normal. Rural America is in tact.

A sun dog radiates special light.

Up in Colorado City, Wildfire Lab has a secret stash of spacefaring heavy lifters. Lifting what?

Wildfire Lab is also working on an AI Bee. Code-named "hivemind", these bees are thought to already outperform humans at deep cognitive tasks like making sense of daytime TV.

Last rays.
