Day 58 - St Helena to Brookings

The modern replacement for the old "Boler" - now the "Casita".

Always a mystery.

Don't know why a bear that's dressed up more like a fisherperson is welcoming folks to the Giant Tree.

There used to be a massive Big Foot here - and then a few years back - he disappeared! We are pleased to report that Big Foot is indeed back - but appears in the interm - to have shrunk. Perhaps the legend is also smaller now.

Poor ol' Garberville. Yet another town that seems to be dying.

The local biker bars are pretty much all that's left.

At the Gates of Eureka.

The Pierson's Traffic Control experiment. It works. Notice there is no traffic on that side of the street?

Sadly, the Broadway is coming in a distant second in the lowest advertised rate competition. Amazingly, Eureka was a dumpster fire of homeless camps last year - and this year, we didn't see a single one. What did they do?

Bob is still selling them fine cars.

The Orick school looks to be in beautiful shape. Hope the local kids enjoy their small school experience.

The last thing we see on leaving California.

Paul and Babe get ready for the holidays.

We pull into Crescent City for a driver change at last light.

The Curly Redwood is certainly tempting with it's proclamation of coffee, wi fi and suites. And double bonus - it's AAA approved! However - we have an ocean front room waiting for us in Brookings. Just over the Oregon border - and 45 minutes away.
