Roadtrip 2024 Spring: Seaside - Yachats - Tumalo - Walla Walla

Day 12 - Godzilla!!! ... and Yaquina Head

I pretty much spit up my morning coffee overlooking the calm Pacific, when I spotted... Godzilla!!!! See inset below...

Center portion of picture above. Forget about Bigfoot - How's about our first sighting of Godzilla??!! He is headed south. He doesn't look angry. Yet. Where the heck are the Black Helicopters?

Godzilla continues south. See detail below.

Now Godzilla is kicking up a wake as he accelerates. Notice how the picture has gotten blurry? Must be the increased radiation as he expends energy. Where the heck are the Black Helicopters??

Godzilla dives. Ya can't make this stuff up! See detail below.

His back arches and there is a spray of water as he dives! Where the heck are the Black Helicopters???

Meanwhile, our pet seals are oblivious to the danger. They just get washed off their rock in Godzilla's wake.

Detail from picture above: the seal to the right is grimly clinging on, while the seal to the left is entirely washed off his rock in Godzilla's wake.

Meanwhile in town, everyone is oblivious. Getting pastries from Bread and Roses is paramount because they have miniscule opening hours (Fri-Sun 10am-2pm).

The Norska returns to port. "Gotta get a bigger boat", reports her Captain.

Servers work at lightning speed to deliver a new and wonderfully revised menu at the Clearwater. It was already good - now it's great!

Lone light and lone tree at Yaquina Head State park. Everyone visits the light - no one visits the tree. But today Tree thrilled to be prominent in a photo op.

A pole, a shadow and a dog walk into a bar.

New greening foliage has not yet overtaken last season's remnants on the north cliff side of the park.

The Renewed Topographics: Yaquina Head 2024

Path to a 360 viewpoint.

High above the ocean, dogs are on trail.

Huge colonies of seabirds are nesting on those rocks.

The light at Yaquina Head.

They are quite serious about not getting too close to the edge here.

It's kinda windy up here.

The tourist fence at the summit.

The steep descent begins.

The US Navy Listening Post.

Those are the good guys. They buzzed the tower to the delight of the tourists.

Another one of Oregon's craziest stairways in the world.

Sea perch.

Shark goes by.

Yet another angry sunset.
