Roadtrip 2024 Spring: Seaside - Yachats - Tumalo - Walla Walla

Day 26 - Shevlin Park

Today's hike is through the Ponderosa forest along the banks of Tumalo Creek.

The Grand Serpents of Tumalo are on guard.

A blowdown of a forest giant reveals a shockingly small root system.

Trees are down all over this grove.

Some are not down - ut we're not quite sure what they are up to.

Another one - just for George. This is a truly special and rare discovery. Set in a gorgeous forest grove with a hand placed woodcrafted entry. Go deep into this structure and discover how cool life in the forest could be. This one won't last long. Stiff competition from local forest dwellers is expected.

Another giant amongst the ghost trees.

Forest as fabric.

The World-Famous News Tree, with its ever-changing scroll of stories.

Even last years remnants can be lively.

Tumalo Creek.

The forest can shimmer too.

The Team makes the crossing.

New life sprouts as the elders watch carefully.

This village of lichens is working on its founding constitution.

Always watching out for my boy.

More Tumalo Creek.

Forest giants like to swirl and dance too.
