Roadtrip 2024 Spring: Seaside - Yachats - Tumalo - Walla Walla

Day 34 - Three Creeks Lake Road - Whychus Overlook

Spot the deer.

Yup - the white stuff flies again.

Our attempt to visit Three Creek Lake is thwarted. It's May 4 - but obviously we're too early in the season.

Zen like forest features along the Whychus Overlook trail. There is a highly symbolic - grass crafted marking on the rock to the left in the picture. We don't know who left it or why - but it does appear to be a face shaped circle with horns. hmmmmmm.

It's about 3C and the wind is howling. But indeed - shorts are in order.

According to the interpretive signs, we should have a boundless vista of the Three Sisters, the Two Brothers and other huge volcanoes from this spot. All we got was this little cinder cone, and an approaching snowstorm. Everything else is in the overcast.

A very tall, thin figure in this forestscape.

The Moai of the Whychus.

The Other Moai.

How do they sprout these crazed circular branches?

"Shorts" survives the ordeal - making it easily back to truck and claiming he's plenty warm.
