A lively lunchtime at the Pelican. They were unexpectedly hammered by this huge crowd midweek.
Plastic buckets and shovels head towards the surfline.
Yup. Just another day at the beach.
A chain of roped-together tourists make their way up the Western Cwm towards the Hillary Step, where another cluster musters for their summit assault. Meanwhile, the three remaining members of the advance Sherpa group reach for the summit to set a fixed line, hopefully before their oxygen runs out and the brooding winter storm decides to ruin their day. Meanwhile, down in Base Camp, the remaining tourists nervously await their turn.
The good folks at the Kiwanda Park Service like to faintly play the theme music from the gruesome 1975 documentary "Jaws" to remind the tourists to mind the waters. It is not working.
Preparations for the next ascension group are already underway.
The Marine Garden on a better day at low tide is a special experience.

So many sea creatures all in such a restricted space.
The Marine Garden is this maze of convoluted rocks.
The ladies contemplate The Climb. In bare feet. Take that, Alex Honnold!
Mini landscapes abound.
A line of small rocks and shells are wedged into this crack that points the way towards Bob Straub Park.
A climbin' we will go - a climbin' we will go ........
The rock bridge that could only be see at a distance on our last visit is now fully accessible for a close up view.
See creatures line the interior walls of the rocky surfaces.
A small but intricately marked member of the crab family.
More landscapes.
And even more.
Ella watches with great concern as Russ navigates the narrow band of beach in retreat from the turning tide.
Moonrise Kiwanda. Yes it's tiny - but it is there!
We were contemplating the arrival of the usual evening UFOs on the right, when a Wildfire Labs drone appeared in our window. Really. And creepy. It stayed on station for more than 30 minutes. It watched us. We watched it.
Detail of Wildfire Labs drone from picture above. Funny, we haven't seen any Black Helicopters this trip at all. It could be they have switched to drones to watch us.
