Roadtrip 2026 Spring - Richland - Bend - Yachats - Pacific City - Seaside

Day 19 - Cape Perpetua: Devil's Churn Upper Trail

The Devil is restless today. It's high tide, and so we decide not to brave the point on the rocks.

The Sentient Sea Foam is starting to collect building materials. It is not clear what they might be building.

An ode to the Oregon Spring green.

Pink. Pretty.

The top of the trail to Devil's has an incredible array of plant matter.

It's as good as - or better than - being in a formal garden.

perfect young lily specimens

this one was found in a vertical wall

On the back side of the head, fresh recruits for "Washed Away" ponder their chances.

Simoné still likes her chances down on the rocks. We decline.

As the devil churns ....

The rains come with a vengeance. We retreat to the Clearwater, which gives us a clear recon of the NOAA's secret spy fleet. Which is entirely gone!! There are always spy ships parked over there. Where are they? Meanwhile, seagulls preen. They could care less about spy fleets.

A pefect day for a Clearwater lunch. A perfect day for a freshwater shower preen. Everyone is happy.
