Roadtrip 2026 Spring - Richland - Bend - Yachats - Pacific City - Seaside

Day 20 - Nye Beach

Tapas for lunch at Zurita. Wendy invigilates the menu. Gambas??

The sun has popped out a bit so Wendy retreats to open car windows for Simoné. Instead - Simoné Cotton Sock is offered the distinguished privilege of being invited inside by restaurant staff! We were the only patrons in the joint. Still - lucky girl!

Spotty cells dump heavy rain offshore Nye Beach.

The local crab fishermen have pitched in to the war effort in Iran, building much needed missile systems. Their welding skills are beyond reproach (yeah, yeah - this one's a little lumpy, but YOU try to make a smooth weld on the pitching deck of a crab boat), and their guidance systems may need a little love and their software may need a little code review, but these are gonna work like you've never seen before.

The Team on the approach to Nye Beach.

Scampering from the rain.

The clouds look threatening. We are very small.

Any chance for some sunshine brings out everyone.

Sometimes a memorial is just a memorial.

These prolific small bell shaped flowers must love their location. Likely growing ever thicker and farther every year.

Snacks after shuttle running.

The sea is tired of the sand getting all the credit for art making. So here ..... take this! The clams approve.

Looks like our day may close out as a heavy squall looms over Yacquina Head.

The village of Nye basks just a little longer.

My boy is so pleased with his new Grundens. These particular ones are "Deck Boss" style. Geez - now he thinks he's going to get a job on a Berring Sea crab boat. He would prefer Time Bandit. Are you out there Johnathan?

Wind blowws my fur again - it's very sheltic.

Last night we had a crazy long wind and rain storm - even lost power. That over there looks like a forming thunderhead. Maybe we're not quite out of the woods yet. Meanwhile a beach picnic carries on.

When the rains fall - we resort to Local Ocean in the old town harbour - to haul home more fresh seafood.

Who thought this was a good name for a pharmacy. The place kids go to get their supply ???? Don't even need to get out of the car!

Meanwhile next door - when ife is tough beer is best. The L just lies down on the job.

Tonight we get an angry sunset.

Russ looks on from the warmth of our beach hut window. Coffee by his side. Who cares if the sunset is angry?

A bit later - even more anger.

The tall ship laughs and carries on.
