Roadtrip 2026 Spring - Richland - Bend - Yachats - Pacific City - Seaside

Day 34 - Cape Lookout

In the lush, lush fertility of Cape Lookout, the US Navy is continuing its program of growing submarines through agriculture. Here, we have a genetically altered plant that sprouts nuclear fuel rods. Where are the Black Helicopters?

Another US Navy experiment: growing wood, hopefully 2x6's, directly from fresh cut tree stumps. There are those in the Navy who think warships will soon revert to wooden sailing craft due to fuel shortages, and they want to be ready.

These tiny hanging gardens can be found in many cracks and crevices. Yet so full of that Oregon green diversity.

The Team in the rainforest.

MOre trailside treasures. Things really love to grow around the roots of enprmous trees.

Just too green to pass by! The shades are so subtle, but do distinguish themselves.

It truly is quite a lookout!

A beautiful trillium in full bloom, basking in a ray of sunshine, and settled into her context. For this moment in time - she is the star.

The secret trillium garden. It's a short and skinny trail just off the main trail where the trillium have happily settled in large numbers.

A sudden gust of wind - just for Jeff.
