The sunarc in this picture reads like a meteor breaking up or exploding as it crosses the sky. The "explosions" are actually caused by drops of water on the window the camera is pointed out - there was a terrific squally wind storm today, and the wind was constantly driving rain against the window. In between squalls, the sun would come out, lighting up all the water droplets.
