There is a plaster wall near the living room window in our house where the angle of sunlight passing through the 1920’s era glass creates wonderful multi layered shadows. The best effects are usually between the autumnal and vernal equinoxes, when the sun stays relatively low in the sky.  I discovered that placing objects in the lightpath to create shadow shapes on this wall can yield some striking results.
