A winter morning on the beach near Tofino B.C. greeted me with spectacular light and natural features. I wandered past a sparkling patch of sand, and although beautiful, I did not feel it to be a photographic subject on it’s own accord. A little further down the beach, strands of seaweed had washed upon a rock. The shapes and rhythms were wonderful, but the black shiny rock that was their background did not play the features to the best. In one of those “ah ha” moments, I gently lifted a particularly interesting strand and returned to the sparkling sands. Perfect compliments, I played the two elements against each other for quite some time.
