I spent some time exploring the notions of scale, the use of small natural found objects as sculpture or even architecture, theatrical lighting, and anonymous figures. To me, this scene represents a large, darkened stage, with a leaf skeleton placed as sculpture in proximity to a figure sitting on a bench. The apparent boundlessness of the stage and the theatrical lighting lend a sense of hugeness to the leaf skeleton - in reality, it is barely 2 inches long.
