Day 13 - Lunch by the Colorado, Thompson Junction, Sego, Thunderstorms

Lunch by the Colorado River.

The Desert Moon Hotel in Thompson Junction is no longer a hotel... Oh, well...

What's a poor old diner to do?

I think we have truly reached that point.

Wendy is dubiously checking into our room at the Thompson Motel...

While I dubiously check out the bar....

And we dubiously check out our neighbors....

This would be the Honeymoon Suite...

Bonnie and Clyde's bullet-riddled getaway car.

Macro Mud

We can see this storm's brewing up pretty big - good thing we've left that canyon road with all the dry river crossings - that likely won't be dry for long.

Yeeee - ouch! This stuff's really close.

As electriclal activity slows a bit, the winds whip up and there's dust blowing everywhere.

Back to safety in downtown Moab. It's Friday night and the party's just getting started. Those splotches on the windshield are remnants of a storm of bugs swarming in the canyon after the torrential rain.

A few more unfortunate bugs that succumbed to our antenna. This is just nuts. You should see the front end of the truck.
