Luminatii at Main Artery Gallery, May 2009

Our two year old group of photography professionals, Luminatii, held its inaugural exhibition May 1 to 10, 2009 at the Main Artery Gallery in Vancouver.  The Friday evening opening event was very well attended, with over 200 people squeezing into the tiny gallery for a first look.  The following two weekends were filled with artists’ talks that gathered very pleasant crowds, and led to many in-depth discussions on the many aspects of photography represented by Luminatii, leaving most guests wanting more, and asking about our next event.  Who knows?

The show's title wall. That's Russ' picture "Oriole Walk" just below the title and tagline...

Wendy and Russ' work on the walls. Wendy chose to display a compendium of pictures from a few bodies of work dealing with abstract visions of beach sand, while Russ exhibited work from his latest explorations in time, featuring all day exposures of the sun crossing the sky, and multiple day exposures showing a vase of tulips wilting.

Mr Yoshinori Tanaka, who worked tirelessly on our behalf providing fabulous music, tending bar, and literally pitching in whereever and whenever needed. We could not have done this without our volunteers.

The room, just prior to the furball of opening night.
