The Cape Meares Lighthouse near Oceanside on the Oregon Coast is one of many fascinating lights that dot the Pacific coast. Once vital to ship’s navigation and safety, the coastal lighthouses are now retired but remain open for visitors to view and imagine another era of life on the rugged west coast of North America. Many of the folks who keep these lighthouses and their legends alive are local volunteers.
