Roadtrips

Roadtrips are part of the fabric of living in North America. With the rising price of gasoline, and the vastness of our continent, we don't know how much longer it will be practical to travel in this way. The best part of roadtrips is encountering the unexpected: a row of upended Cadillacs sticking out of a famer's field in Amarillo, Texas - or getting bounced by an unbelieveably violent and beautiful electrical storm in New Mexico, or the ghost towns found along forgotten highways after the introduction of the Almighty Interstate. This is our hopefully continuing view of America from the car.

Most of the photographs on this page were made within a few minutes easy walking from the car; a large number of them were made literally from the parking lot. Sometimes, you don't have to hike to the ends of the earth to get the shot.

We'll be adding to this page as we go; we expect the pictures here to be as eclectic as the roads we travel.
