This is the almost unbelievable view of the Sawtooth Mountain range from the backyard of the house we rented in Stanley, Idaho. Beyond that fence is the Salmon River, which runs through this whole area. We were there at the beginning of October, when the whole valley starts to shut down for the winter, leaving behind only about 30 year-round residents. There are some fishing lodges in the area that are snowed in for the winter... we saw them shutting down, too. mmmmmMMMMMmmmm.... winter caretaker. The shining....
